When I knew that Trường Lănh Đạo would be held at Vinh Sơn Liêm this year, I thought, ‘Convenient from home, and convenient from the city. Excellent! It’s only 15mins away if I ever want to come’ – at least for me it will be convenient!
But in February, upon hearing that a short course within my interest range was running on several Tuesdays of March, I could not refuse the offer. However, attending the scheduled sessions meant that I would not arrive at VSL for the 7:30pm start of TLĐ. That Tuesday, I ended up arriving at VSL at about 9:30pm, just in time to hear part of the news update, say the final prayer and receive a blessing along with other Cursillistas. In the parable of the workers in the vineyard (Mt 20:1-16), no matter how early or how late someone arrived to work, everyone was given a fair wage. And I think this is what happens at Ultreya, TLĐ and everywhere God is the land-owner. I’m not sure if there are any situations where God works with decimals, but what I can certainly say is that despite my late arrival, when I received my wage for coming to TLĐ (a blessing), it was definitely not 0.08 of a blessing!
At TLĐ, I saw someone who lives about 5 times further from VSL in distance than me and is very much busier than I am. This person has an extraordinary attendance record and manages to come to every Ultreya and TLĐ that I’ve ever been to, wherever and whenever it is held- despite the long drive from Lysterfield. If priests, who are very busy people, manage to come to Ultreya and TLĐ, why shouldn’t I, someone who lives only 15mins from VSL, put in that extra effort to come when it is possible, even if it means arriving late unavoidably?
Giới Trẻ là tương lai của Giáo Hội. Without young people, the Church has no future- but if young people are to be the future of the Church, they also need to be present in the Church today- some famous sayings that were heard many times in the lead up to World Youth Day. Dearest Cursillistas friends, in particular my young friends, I look forward to seeing you at the next gathering. Whilst life is busy and my Tiếng Việt vocabulary is very limited, I will continue to come to Ultreya and TLĐ whenever I can and allow Thầy Chí Thánh to guide my understanding according to His will.
$Wage of TLĐ = nB = 1 full blessing if n > 0
